Garrison Mill Elementary Opens Science Olympiad Season

Check out this video to get a taste of why Science Olympiads are important and why the Garrison Mill Education Foundation supports STEM/STEAM initiatives for our Greyhounds.

Your donations during #GivingTuesday and throughout the year give students a chance for experiences like these.

The primary needs for Science Olympiad are materials and volunteers.

The video provides perspective on the value of STEAM now and in the future for our Greyhound students.

Practice starts in December in advance of competition in February 2026

Garrison Mill's team starts practice the week of Dec. 1 as we train for the competition on  Saturday, February 7, 2026. No practice on Dec. 2 because of Digital Learning Day.

Each event has its own weekly practice time, which coaches will share directly with families once rosters and schedules are finalized.

This year’s lineup includes both study/test events and build/activity events, giving students opportunities to explore life science, earth science, physics, engineering, chemistry, problem-solving, and inquiry-based investigation.

Study/Test Events

  • Backyard Biologist
  • Data Crunchers
  • Deep Blue Sea
  • Disease Detectives
  • No Bones About It
