Robots help Garrison Mill second graders learn math
#GivingTuesday donations support STEAM mission for nonprofit GMEF
Why use a ruler when you can use a … robot?!
That’s exactly what Garrison Mill Elementary second graders got to do in December by using Ozobots, small programmable robots. The Garrison Mill Education Foundation (GMEF) purchased six Ozobots plus accessories for $2,360.
Directed by science teacher Sarah Whittle in the Garrison Mill STEM Lab, students practiced practical math skills.
They measured distances and explored how far their robots can travel along various paths. By combining technology with math, students are building accuracy and problem-solving skills while having a blast watching their robots zoom along their routes.
Your #GivingTuesday donations help the nonprofit, parent-led Garrison Mill Education Foundation replace and maintain robots for use throughout the school year.
GMEF focuses on STEAM – science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics – throughout year, which is why we fundraise multiple times a year.
