Help Bring Robotics to Garrison Mill — Parent Interest Survey Now Open!
After an exciting robotics showcase at STEAM Night featuring students from Mabry Middle School, Lassiter High School, and Wheeler High School, we’re excited to explore launching a Robotics Club here at Garrison Mill Elementary!
These talented middle and high school students demonstrated the teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills that grow when students begin robotics at an early age. We would love to build that same opportunity and pathway for our Garrison Mill students.
To move forward, we need your input! Parent feedback will help us determine interest levels and shape the program’s structure, schedule, and volunteer support.
Our goal is to host a parent information meeting soon and explore a possible spring “try-it” session in partnership with Mabry. Thank you for supporting hands-on STEM learning at Garrison Mill!
Reading Bowl Team Places 3rd in County Competition
Garrison Mill Elementary is proud to celebrate our incredible Reading Bowl team for earning 3rd place out of 32 schools at the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl!
Throughout the season, our 4th and 5th grade students committed countless hours to reading, practicing, and preparing. Their hard work, collaboration, and deep knowledge of this year’s book selections were on full display as they competed against schools across the Cobb County School District.
Team Members:
Maddox C. Sloane H. Josie K. Kate W.
Lucy O.
Aakash R. Sophia L.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to our dedicated teacher sponsors and coaches, OliviaBaer and Alyson Jefferson, whose leadership and encouragement guided the team every step of the way.
This achievement reflects not only academic excellence, but also the strong culture of reading and teamwork at Garrison Mill. We are so proud of our students for representing our school with enthusiasm and excellence!
If you have a student who will be a rising 4th or 5th grader, please be on the lookout for information about our Reading Bowl interest meeting coming in late April/May. We would love to see new readers join the team!
π¨β¨ Garrison Mill Fine Arts Night & Winter Sing Along
Available Now as Album Download πΆβοΈ
Did you miss the annual Fine Arts Night and Chorus Winter Sing Along on Dec. 11? It's now available as an album download.
The Garrison Mill cafeteria and gym burst with color, music and holiday cheer as hundreds of students, parents, teachers and friends came together.
π Denim Makeover Magic! Students rolled up their sleeves and transformed gently used denim into one-of-a-kind fashion pieces using fabric paint and markers. These creative masterpieces will shine again during STEAM Night in February, where they’ll be auctioned off to support science, technology, engineering, arts and math opportunities at Garrison Mill.
πΆ Holiday Tunes & Cheer!
The Garrison Mill Chorus, directed by the festive and fun Ms. Colleen Crotty (who wowed the crowd in her North Pole-inspired outfit), filled the night with joyful holiday songs. The audience clapped, sang along and left with hearts full of joy and music.
βΎ Big News!
Ms. Crotty shared an exciting announcement: our talented Chorus has been invited to perform the National Anthem at Truist Park on Father’s Day, June 21, 2026, when the Atlanta Braves take on the Milwaukee Brewers! π€πΊπΈ
β¨ It was a night of creativity, community, and celebration—a perfect reminder of how art and music bring us all together.
STEAM is the primary focus of the Garrison Mill Education Foundation, which delivers hands-on student opportunities in STEAM throughout the year.
